Nestled on the quiet stretch of Ruamjai Road in Phatthalung, Bung Toh Roti stands out as a welcoming halal restaurant offering a comforting taste of local Thai-Malay cuisine. This spot has become a cherished haven for both locals and travelers seeking delicious, reasonably priced meals in a relaxed atmosphere.
The culinary highlight here is undoubtedly the nasi beriyani ข้าวหมกไก่, an aromatic chicken biryani boasting tender, flavorful chicken nestled within perfectly seasoned, fragrant rice. The accompanying chili sauce strikes a delicate balance—pleasantly warming without overwhelming your palate, making it accessible even to those who shy away from spicy fare. Their green curry is another gem, rich and creamy, with subtle layers of spice that invite you to savor each spoonful slowly. The crispy roti is a perfect complement—golden, flaky, and satisfying with every bite, serving as a tactile delight alongside the savory mains.
Guests often praise the approachable sweetness threading through many of the dishes, a signature trait that broadens the appeal of the food, ensuring it suits diverse tastes. Drinks like teh o (Thai iced tea) and plum soda refresh and cleanse the palate, rounding out the meal thoughtfully.
Though the setting is modest—offering a humble, quiet refuge especially after hours—it's the warmth of the staff that truly elevates the dining experience. Reviews highlight the welcoming nature of the team, particularly a helpful lady who goes above and beyond by translating the menu and recommending specialties, ensuring that visitors feel well-guided and cared for. This attentiveness reinforces a sense of comfort and trust, encouraging guests to linger and return.
One of Bung Toh Roti’s underrated strengths lies in its reliable opening hours, especially noted during festival seasons when many other restaurants close. This consistency makes it a dependable choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, an invaluable aspect for travelers passing through Phatthalung.
While a few dishes, like the satay, may not fully impress every diner, the overall consensus is one of satisfaction, affordability, and heartfelt hospitality. For anyone venturing through this peaceful district, Bung Toh Roti offers a genuine taste of regional flavors, presented with sincerity and a friendly smile.
In summary, if you find yourself craving halal Thai-Malay cuisine served with care, sensible pricing, and a welcoming atmosphere away from the bustle, Bung Toh Roti is a quietly confident choice that deserves a spot on your culinary itinerary.

Went there around 8pm, the restaurant was empty. Parked just in front. The street was also empty. The staff were friendly. One of the lady staff could speak Thai malay. Price not bad. Most other halal restaurants were closing already.

We had our dinner here, highly recommend to order their nasi beryani ข้าวหมกไก่ , chicken is tender, rice is flavourful, chilli sauce is just nice, not too spicy. We even add on 2 more chickens. And their green curry is very nice too! Everything tastes good! For the drinks, we ordered teh o and plum soda, also good! Their roti is crispy! The only disappointed point is their satay, it’s taste like they marinated the chicken with just curry powder, we expected more of “Thai style satay”. But overall, I really highly recommend to have dinner here! They are halal, their menu have bahasa melayu on it! Staff are nice and polite! Definitely will come back again in future!
